DIY Pumpkin Planter

It just so happens that today is National Pumpkin Day and we have a DIY post about making a pumpkin planter (I literally, 'Did It Myself' yesterday).
What I really love about this project is that anyone can take the idea and make it their own.  You could use a real pumpkin (carved or not) and real flowers or succulents... or if you're like me and you don't really have a green thumb... you can use a fake pumpkin (painted, covered in glitter, or wrapped in burlap) and glue whatever fake flowers or decor you want to it!

Here's what I used...

  • A Pumpkin

  • Spray Adhesive (clear)

  • Tacky Glue (clear)

  • Moss

  • Fake Floral Arrangements

  • Scissors (and Wire Cutters depending on your flowers)

The first thing that I did was pick out a good pumpkin.. (and I got some help sawing off the stem).  I pulled apart all 3 of the prearranged floral arrangements I got so that I knew exactly what I had to work with! I started with greenery first.

I cleaned any dirt off the pumpkin and made sure the area I would be gluing was dry. I sprayed on my adhesive and applied a nice little bed of moss.

I kind of trimmed the Moss down since it will not be the main attraction in my display.. Next I added my first later of leaves...

From here I just started to build!  I glued on my big flowers and then added pine cones, acorns, berries, and whatever else was in my arrangements that I thought looked good! I won't lie, my hands were pretty sticky by this point so it got hard to take pictures, but this was my end result....
